Five things to know about the Flyers today

Five things to know today about the Flyers (27-23-7) as they play in Edmonton (30-19-8) on Thursday night and try to rebound from Wednesday's 3-1 loss in Calgary.

1. Most eyes will be on old pals Connor McDavid and Brandon Manning. But the Flyers' real concern will be containing McDavid, the NHL's leading scorer and a player who has 19 multiple-point games this season. Look for Sean Couturier and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare to take turns shadowing the 20-year-old star center.

2. The Flyers have won just nine of their last 34 games in Edmonton since 1979-80. Maybe playing in the Oilers' new digs, Rogers Place, for the first time will change the Flyers' fortunes?

4. Edmonton is coming off Tuesday's 5-2 win over Arizona. Before that, the Oilers had scored just two goals over a four-game stretch.

5. The Flyers, whose power play was futile in Wednesday's loss in Calgary, are 10-14-3 on the road and 17-9-4 at home. They are 8-3-2 in the second half of back-to-back games.
