Five things to know about the Flyers today as they meet Columbus

Five things to know about the Flyers (21-15-5) today as they face the Blue Jackets (27-7-4) in Columbus on Sunday at 6 p.m.:

1. Sam Gagner, 27, is probably making Flyers GM Ron Hextall wish he had re-signed him. Gagner, who signed with Columbus as a free agent in the off-season for just $650,000, has 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in his last 16 outings.

Overall, Gagner has 14 goals, 30 points and a plus-13 rating in 37 games this season. By comparison, Dale Weise, the player the Flyers basically signed for four years ($2.35 million per season) to replace Gagner, has two goals, four points and a plus-1 rating in 36 games.

Last year, Gagner had just 16 points in 53 games with the Flyers.

2. Columbus has lost two straight after setting a club record with 16 consecutive wins, which was the second-longest in NHL history. The teams are meeting for the first of four times this season.

3. Look for the Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky and the Flyers' Steve Mason  to face their former teams. Bobrovsky, the NHL's player of the month in December, is 25-6-2 with a 2.03 GAA and .930 save percentage. Mason is 14-13-5 with a 2.83 GAA and .903 save percentage.

4. Sean Couturier had a goal and won 12 of 18 faceoffs in the Flyers' 4-2 win Saturday over Tampa Bay.  The victory gave the Flyers 47 points at the halfway mark of their season. "From now on in the second half of the year, we need every point we can get," Couturier said. "We need to show up every night and get some points."

5. Ex-Flyer Scott Hartnell has 10 goals and 24 points for Columbus, while former Blue Jacket Jake Voracek has 13 goals and 39 points for the Flyers.
