A Flyers official said Daniel Cleary would report to camp Thursday, but Hockey Night in Canada's Elliotte Friedman reported that because of a "complication," the left winger will NOT join the Flyers.

Asked about the report, Flyers' GM Paul Holmgren said he still expected Cleary to be at the opening of training camp Thursday.

Said Holmgren: "Until I hear it from the horse's mouth...."

Cleary did not return a phone call on the matter. The Detroit FRee Press had reported that Cleary had agreed to a three-year deal worth $2.75 million per season.

Holmgren on Tuesday said no deal was in place, and that Cleary had to make the team on a tryout basis.

The Flyers do not have cap space to sign him _ and, barring a trade, won't have room until Chris Pronger goes on the LTIR list at the start of the season.
