Wolff says he's optimistic about playing
Eagles rookie safety Earl Wolff sat out the Dallas game after aggravating his knee injury against Chicago. Wolff rested Tuesday, but said after practice he thinks he'll be ready by Saturday night's playoff opener.
One of the worst moments for Eagles fans Sunday night was when Dez Bryant caught a pass over the middle, ripped through Patrick Chung's tackle attempt, and pranced into the end zone to pull Dallas within 24-22, with 2:19 remaining.
A good bit of the fault should be placed on defensive coordinator Bill Davis's all-out blitz, which left Chung all alone in a mismatch, but the missed tackle wasn't Davis's fault.
Tuesday, Earl Wolff, the rookie who had supplanted Chung before suffering a knee hyperextension Nov. 10 at Green Bay, sat out practice to rest the knee, but afterward, Wolff said he actually feels better than he felt last week and "probably" will be ready to go for Saturday's Wild Card round playoff game against the Saints.
"Right now I'm taking it day-to-day, and I'm pretty sure I'll probably play Saturday," said Wolff, who returned week before last against Chicago but aggravated the injury. He said the biggest issue is generating top-end speed.
"Getting out of my breaks, trying to run full speed is the biggest thing right now," Wolff said. "It's getting better and better, honestly ... I'm feeling better about it this week than I have thje last couple of weeks."
