With a win over the Cowboys, Eagles to face Saints in playoffs

ARLINGTON, Tex. -- The Eagles still have work left to do, but if they beat the Cowboys tonight to win the NFC East they'll host the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the playoffs.

The Saints clinched one of two wild card berths with a 42-17 victory over the Buccaneers and will be the sixth seed in the NFC bracket. The 49ers clinched the other wild card with a 23-20 win over the Cardinals and are the fifth seed and will face the fourth seed, the Packers, after they beat the Bears, 33-28.

The playoff schedule for next weekend's first round games will be announced following the Eagles-Cowboys game.

The Eagles last played the Saints in 2012 – a 28-13 loss in New Orleans – and the two teams last faced each other in the postseason after the 2006 season when the Saints beat the Eagles, 27-24, at home in divisional round of the playoffs.

The only other time they met in the postseason was in 1991 when the Eagles topped the Saints, 36-20 – the lone postseason win during Rich Kotite tenure as head coach.

The 13-3 Seahawks are the NFC's No. 1 seed. The 12-4 Panthers secured the No. 2 seed and a bye with a 21-20 win over the Falcons. The Eagles-Cowboys victor will be the No. 3 seed.
