Week 9 NFL picks

For the degenerate gamblers, here be my Week 9 NFL picks:

Saints (-3) at Panthers

It feels like the Saints are going to win the NFC South with ease. The Panthers, Falcons and Bucs may all be bottom 10 type teams.

Buccaneers at Browns (-7)

The Buccaneers basically have nothing going for them... at all.

Cardinals (-1) at Cowboys

It appears the Cowboys will be sans Tony Romo against a blitz-heavy defense giving up just 77.9 rushing yards per game. I'm sure the Cowboys are going to want to run the football, but at some point Brandon Weeden is going to have make a few plays under pressure. And you know what? I think he will, because the Cardinals feel like frauds.

Eagles (-1.5) at Texans

It's nothing short of remarkable that the Eagles are 5-2, considering how careless they've been with the football:

The Eagles are among five teams with a -7 turnover differential or worse. The others: Raiders, Redskins, Jaguars, Jets. Combined record of those four teams: 5-26.

Meanwhile, the Texans are second in the NFL with 17 takeaways.

The Eagles have the far more talented roster, but, um, Eagles? Stop turning the ball over. I make this Eagles pick with very little confidence.

Jets at Chiefs (-10)

It'll be fun watching old friend Michael Vick getting one last chance to start in the NFL, but let's be real. He's finished.

Jaguars at Bengals (-11)

The Bengals have a Thursday night game next week against surprising division rival Cleveland. This one feels kind of trap game'y. Love the Jags + the points.

Chargers at Dolphins (-2)

This is actually a really good game. It's MVP candidate Philip Rivers vs the Dolphins' impressive pass D. If you've read my picks all year, you already know how much I like the Bolts, perhaps irrationally at this point.

Redskins at Vikings (EVEN)

The Redskins are in search of their third straight win in a very winnable game. If they can take care of business, they'll be 4-5 and back from the dead. Remember, a not that great Redskins team rattled off a long win streak in 2012 and won the division after an awful start:

Rams at 49ers (-10)

After falling behind 14-0 to the Rams in their first meeting this season in St.Louis, the 49ers woke up and handled them easily. They should easily handle the Rams again today.

Broncos (-3) at Patriots

Was this game talked about at all this week?

Raiders at Seahawks (-15)

The Seahawks have beaten one team by more than two touchdowns once this season. The Raiders have lost by more than two touchdowns this season twice. Yes, the  Seahawks are good, and yes the Raiders are bad, but 15 points seems like an exceedingly high spread.

Ravens (-1.5) at Steelers

Here are two teams I've been picking against all year, who have proven me wrong with regularity. Baltimore leads the NFL with a point differential of +86.

Colts (-3) at Giants

And so begins the Giants' brutal stretch against the Colts, Seahawks, 49ers and Cowboys. It begins with a home loss.

Week 7 best bets against the spread:

Raiders +15, Jaguars +11, Chargers +2.
