Eagles agree to terms with WR Miles Austin on one-year deal

The Eagles agreed to terms with wide receiver Miles Austin on a one-year deal, a source confirmed to The Inquirer. The NFL Network first reported the contract, which will be worth worth $2.3 million, with $700,000 in incentives.

Austin, 30, spent last season with the Cleveland Browns after eight years with the Dallas Cowboys. Austin made the Pro Bowl in 2009 and 2010, although he has dealt with injuries in recent seasons. Austin has played 16 games in a season just once since 2010.

If the Eagles sign Austin, he would provide needed depth to a wide-receiving corps that needs a boost after the loss of Jeremy Maclin. The Eagles are counting on Riley Cooper, Jordan Matthews, and Josh Huff. Coach Chip Kelly is optimistic about the depth in the wide-receiver class this year, calling it the deepest position in the draft. An Austin signing would not be to replace Maclin, but would give the Eagles another option at the position.

Austin, who is 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, is from Summit, N.J., and played college football at Monmouth. He turns 31 on June 30.
