Play on, Eagles!

The Eagles ran as many plays (37) in the first 18:46 of Monday night’s game as they had in an entire game against the Steelers in 2004. Although they finished with “only” 77 plays (49 rushes, 25 passes, 3 sacks), it is safe to say there is more fun to come.

How much fun? How does triple digits sound?

Only two teams have ever allowed an opponent to snap the ball 100 times in a game — and one of them will be lining up at Lincoln Financial Field Sunday.

Here are the most plays run in the league and by the Eagles, in both overtime and regulation games (since 1940):

What grade does the Eagles defense get for the opener?

  • 512 (12.1%)
  • 2575 (60.7%)
  • 1051 (24.8%)
  • 70 (1.7%)
  • 32 (0.8%)
  • 4240
