Eagles claim LB Steven Daniels off waivers

The linebacker was waived a day earlier by the Washington Redskins.

The Eagles claimed linebacker Steven Daniels off waivers from the Washington Redskins on Wednesday.

Daniels, 24, is 5-foot-11 and 245 pounds. He was Washington's seventh-round pick last year and suffered a labrum injury last August. Daniels was waived by the Redskins on Tuesday.

The Eagles continue to seek depth at linebacker. They drafted converted safety Nathan Gerry in the fifth round last week, but they remain unproven at the position behind starters Jordan Hicks, Nigel Bradham, and Mychal Kendricks. Former backup middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch retired this offseason.

Daniels helped Boston College to the No. 1-ranked defense in college football in 2015. He led the team with 82 tackles.
