Latest Eagles NFL mock draft roundup: Gareon Conley, Christian McCaffrey are favorites

Here's your latest look at what various mock drafts around the Internet are projecting the Eagles will do with their first round pick.

The NFL Draft is just over two weeks away. In fact, if you live anywhere near the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, it has already started, thanks to all the street closures in that part of the city.

Here's a look at what various mock drafts around the Internet are projecting the Eagles will do with their first-round pick.

Mel Kiper, ESPN: CB Gareon Conley, Ohio State

Conley, another riser after the combine, is the veteran of the three Buckeyes defensive backs I have going in the top 14 picks.

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: CB Gareon Conley, Ohio State

Their corner situation isn't good right now. They have to get a starter in this draft.

Nate Davis, USA Today: CB Kevin King, Washington

Philly has to reload at corner, and a 6-3, 200-pounder like King could be the right antidote in a division populated with massive receivers like Dez Bryant, Brandon Marshall, and Terrelle Pryor.

Daniel Jeremiah, NFL.com: LB Reuben Foster, Alabama

Foster is a tone-setter and would excel in the Eagles' defensive scheme.

Darryl Slater, NJ.com: S Jabril Peppers, Michigan

No position. That's the knock on Peppers, a Paramus Catholic graduate. The Eagles will try to find a way to use him.

Will Brinson, CBS Sports: RB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford

Some team is going to take McCaffrey and turn him into a monster, and I think the offense Doug Pederson runs fits the profile. Carson Wentz would be a huge offseason winner if the Eagles did this.

Todd McShay, ESPN: RB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford

I love this fit. Darren Sproles turns 34 in June, and Philly needs a versatile playmaker out of the backfield. McCaffrey has the skill set to be a really good running back and wide receiver in the NFL.

Chad Reuter, NFL.com: CB Gareon Conley, Ohio State

Philly desperately needs help in the secondary.

(Yes, that's all he wrote. I'm trying to get as many mock drafts into this story as possible.)

Jared Dubin, CBS Sports: RB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford

The Eagles spent a bunch of their free-agent money making their offense more Carson Wentz friendly. Adding a versatile weapon like McCaffrey in the draft amounts to doubling down on that effort.

Walter Cherepinsky, WalterFootball.com: DE Derek Barnett, Tennessee

There's been some chatter that the Eagles could select a defensive lineman with the No. 14 overall pick, and it makes sense because Connor Barwin left via free agency. They'll need to find someone who can start across from Brandon Graham. Chris Long was signed, but that was just a short-term depth addition.

Derek Barnett has been highly productive at Tennessee, but lacks length and explosion. However, there were similar concerns about Graham entering the NFL, and we've all seen how that turned out.

(Ouch.)

Charley Casserley, NFL.com: CB Tre'Davious White, Louisiana State

Cornerback was a major problem for the Eagles last season.

(As with Chad Reuter above, well, you get the idea.)

Ryan Wilson, CBS Sports: CB Gareon Conley, Ohio State

At 6-0, 195 pounds, Conley has been compared to Aqib Talib, which would make him a valuable asset for the Eagles in the rough-and-tumble NFC East.

Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com: WR John Ross, Washington

Ross (5-11, 188) was a very productive wideout for Washington in 2016 with 81 receptions for 1,150 yards and 17 touchdowns. For the NFL, he will have to fit as a speedy, shifty slot receiver as he is very undersized. If Ross can add some weight, he could be a Brandin Cooks-type receiver. Otherwise, Ross might be more similar to Sterling Shepard or Tavon Austin. Ross has good hands, route-running, and is fast. He could be a mismatch weapon as a slot receiver.

Lance Zierlein, NFL.com: CB Gareon Conley, Ohio State

The Eagles need a cornerback, and Conley has good size and the ability to press and cover all over the field. His strong combine performance helped his stock.

Cover32 staff, Yahoo Sports: CB Marlon Humphrey, Alabama

After parting ways with both starting cornerbacks from last season, the Eagles need to find at least one starting corner in the draft. While this pick very likely would have been Sidney Jones before his disastrous Achilles injury, Humphrey makes for a decent plan-B.

Rob Rang, The Sports Xchange/CBS Sports: S Jabril Peppers, Michigan

Peppers is a polarizing prospect in the scouting community based in large part because he recorded just one interception over his career at Michigan. However, he is an instinctive, versatile player with the open-field tackling skills and competitive nature to quickly become a fan favorite.

Connor Riley, SECCountry.com: RB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford

Last year, the Eagles got their quarterback in Carson Wentz. Now they're looking to get him some weapons.

Dane Brugler NFLDraftScout.com/CBS Sports: RB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford

The Eagles have surrounded second-year quarterback Carson Wentz with weapons on offense, but adding a versatile threat like McCaffrey is something that should frighten the rest of the NFC East.

Readers of WalterFootball.com: CB Marlon Humphrey, Alabama

This is a bit different. I like it as a way of sounding out the fan base, whether or not they're right. A total of 368 voters participated. Humphrey got the most votes at 25.8 percent. Western Michigan WR Corey Davis was second at 19.0 percent, and Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey was third at 15.0 percent.
