Isaac Seumalo will be Eagles' first-team LG during OTAs; Jalen Mills, Patrick Robinson will be first-team CBs

Seumalo won the nod to be the first-team left guard over veterans Allen Barbre and Stefen Wisniewski.

Isaac Seumalo was the Eagles' first-team left guard during Tuesday's session of organized team activities, an indication that the second-year offensive lineman could be a starter for the team this season.

Allen Barbre, the incumbent at the position, is nursing a calf injury. Stefen Wisniewski is also a candidate. But the Eagles are bullish about the development of Seumalo, a third-round pick in 2016.

"Let him get an opportunity to work in the rotation with that first unit," coach Doug Pederson said.

Pederson described Barbre as a "versatile offensive lineman that can play guard and tackle," so the veteran could have value as a reserve offensive lineman able to swing between both spots.

Seumalo started two games at right guard, one at left guard, and one at right tackle in 2016. It wasn't clear whether the team would use him more as a guard or center this season. Seumalo will take snaps from center this offseason, but his top option for playing time appears to be left guard.

"To me, it's not different than being with the twos or the threes," Seumalo said of practicing with the starters. "You go out there and have a job to do… My best spot is wherever the coaches tell me."

Kelce's still here

Center Jason Kelce is still on the Eagles' roster and is entrenched as the starting center. Pederson said Kelce "will definitely get the majority of the reps" over Wisniewski and Seumalo.

Kelce was rumored to be on the trade block this offseason and the Eagles re-signed Wisniewski, who has significant starting experience. No trade happened, and Kelce is in line to start for the seventh season.

"Worrying about it doesn't do any good," Kelce said. "We have competition every year. The reality is we always have guys coming in, coming out. Now we happen to have a lot of really, really \[good\] depth at inside interior line. But, like I said, it doesn't do me any good worrying about the 'What ifs?' All I can do is control what I can control, and that's how I go out and play, how I go out and prepare, and how I try and get back to the player I've been in the past."

Kendricks earns praise

Linebacker Mychal Kendricks continues to participate in the offseason program and practiced with the first-team defense on Tuesday. Kendricks has also been the subject of trade rumors, but Pederson sounded happy with the six-year veteran.

"With everything that was rumored with him, Mychal has had a great attitude," Pederson said. "He's come in here, he's worked extremely hard. He knows our system.… The things he's done this spring already really put him in a position to solidify our three linebackers."
