Pederson: 'As of right now,' Huff will play Sunday

Doug Pederson said Wednesday morning that wide receiver Josh Huff likely will play Sunday against the New York Giants.

"As of right now, yes," the Eagles coach said.

Huff was arrested Tuesday by Delaware River Port Authority police after they pulled him over for speeding on the Walt Whitman Bridge and found an unlicensed 9mm handgun, six hollow-point bullets, and a small amount of marijuana in his car.

"Nothing changes right now,'' Pederson said. "It's out of our hands. It's a legal matter right now. And we'll get more information on it.''

Pederson said that didn't necessarily mean the Eagles would wait until Huff's situation plays out in the courts before considering discipline. But he said he needs to have more information than he has right now.

"Until I find out exactly the severity of it and what's going to happen down the road, right now, nothing (is going to be done). We'll take it one day at a time," Pederson said.

"It's hard to speculate. There could be fines. There could be suspensions. You've seen it in the past. But until we gather all of the information, we just don't know what's going to happen.''

This is the second gun-related incident this season involving an Eagles player. Linebacker Nigel Bradham was arrested after a loaded handgun was discovered in his backback at Miami International Airport.

Pederson said he was "obviously disappointed'' in the third-year receiver.

"It's not what you want to see happen on a player day off,'' he said. "He and I have spoken about it. It's one of the things I talk about all the time with players.

"You just try to eliminate distractions and take care of your business outside of the building.

"These guys need to know that the decisions and choices they make away from this building, it's going to affect them as a player, it's going to affect eventually the team, (and) it's going to eventually affect their future as a player in the NFL.''
