Nick Foles: 'I just made a couple bad throws, it’s as simple as that'

Nick Foles’ forgettable preseason debut included two first-quarter interceptions in Friday’s 34-28 loss to the Chicago Bears.

CHICAGO – Nick Foles' forgettable preseason debut included two first-quarter interceptions in Friday's 34-28 loss to the Chicago Bears, but Foles cautioned observers from making a big deal out of two turnovers. He has had two-interception games before and will have two-interception games again – even if he threw just two throughout the entire 2013 season.

"I think I just made a couple bad throws, it's as simple as that," Foles said after the game. "Everyone's going to look into it and try to think all these different things, but me personally, it's a sick feeling in your stomach, but at the same time, I know that I can correct those. I'm going to go back to work and going to get better because of it."

Foles said his first interception was the result of trying to throw the ball down the middle while under pressure. On the second interception, Foles said he forced ball into a spot to try to make a play, and it was a "poorly thrown ball" with a receiver who "fell of on the route."

Leading up to the game, Foles said he needed to throw the ball quicker and avoid sacks. He took too many sacks in 2013, so he was trying to correct it this season. Foles said that emphasis was not the reason he threw two interceptions.

His teammates were supportive of him after the game, insisting that it's just one preseason game. Coach Chip Kelly took a similar approach. Foles said his confidence was not shaken after the performance.

"I've done that in games before and I've gone back out and executed," Foles said. "You just have to play through it. You can't let it affect you. I know I'll feel a certain way for 24 hours, but I'll move forward. I'll correct it. It's not the first time I've thrown two picks in a game.

"I've done it before, so I know how everybody's going to look at it. I'm going to stay positive. I'm going to learn from it. I know the situations and put them in a database in my brain."
