New arrest for Birds' Bradham: forgot gun in backpack at airport

Among the most crucial packing hints for air travel would be, even if you have a permit to carry a gun, don't forget it's in your backpack and has to go through an airport X-ray machine.

This lesson was reinforced for Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham Sunday in Miami, when he embarked on his return from the team's bye week and ended up arrested. Bradham was jailed and booked on a second degree misdemeanor concealed weapons charge, before posting $500 bail, but according to TMZ, which first reported the arrest, Bradham would have merely been cited had he not already been out on bond from his July arrest in Miami over an altercation with a hotel beach umbrella stand operator.

TMZ quoted unnamed law enforcement officials as saying "it was clear that there was no criminal intent on his part."

Bradham, a starter who has played very well through the first three games, practiced with the Eagles Monday and spoke afterward with reporters, before they knew of the new charge. He confirmed he has a hearing this week on the hotel employee assault matter, which he said he does not have to attend.

The Eagles issued the boilerplate "arrested player" statement -- they are aware of the mater, have been in contact with authorities and with Bradham, and "as it is a pending legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time."

Bradham's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said he had no comment.

Neither of the Bradham arrests is the kind of thing that should seriously affect his career, especially this one, but given than he has been arrested twice in three months, the NFL might have concerns. The league is unlikely to take any kind of action in the next several weeks.
