LB Stephen Tulloch talking with Eagles

Free agent linebacker Stephen Tulloch is in contract discussions with the Eagles, a league source confirmed. ESPN first reported the news, saying there were "heavy negotiations."

Tulloch, 31, was released by the Detroit Lions in July. He played for Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz in Detroit and Tennessee.

The Eagles are in need of veteran linebacker depth. Najee Goode is the only reserve linebacker with more than one year of experience, and all three starters missed time last season because of injury. Tulloch has been a starter for most of his 10 years in the NFL, which have been split evenly between the Lions and Titans. He topped 100 tackles in six of the past seven seasons.

In 10 seasons, Tulloch has 942 tackles, 14.5 sacks, and five interceptions.
