Eagles storylines in Week 2 of organized team activities

1) Progress of injured players

The Eagles practiced last week with some key players as limited participants. Cornerback Nolan Carroll is still recovering from a leg injury, while the team is cautious with middle linebacker Jordan Hicks' leg tightness. Cornerback JaCorey Shepherd is not all the way back from a torn ACL, and the Eagles are still waiting on kicker Cody Parkey to return from a groin injury.

2) No Cox and Sproles?

With defensive lineman Fletcher Cox and running back Darren Sproles absent for the voluntary workouts this offseason, it's an opportunity for players behind them on the depth. Kenjon Barner and Wendell Smallwood are getting extended looks at running back. Taylor Hart, Beau Allen, and Mike Martin are the beneficiaries at defensive tackle.

3) Wentz's development

Carson Wentz has now had a week around the veteran players and practicing in Doug Pederson's system. The second week will show whether there's incremental improvement as Wentz gets more comfortable in the scheme and with his surroundings. He's taking the same amount of full-team reps as Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel.

4) Lineup questions

Pederson made it clear last week that Allen Barbre is the starter at left guard at this point. But cornerback remains unsettled, and Vinny Curry and Connor Barwin were the first-team defensive ends over Brandon Graham last week. Another week of practice will show who else is rotating in with the first-team defense at cornerback, and whether Graham remains with Marcus Smith at defensive end with the second-team defense.

5) Schwartz speaks

One of the biggest offseason moves for the Eagles was hiring Jim Schwartz as defensive coordinator. Schwartz, a former Detroit Lions head coach, will hold a news conference after Tuesday's practice and discuss the defense's transition from a 3-4 to a 4-3. It's Schwartz's first time meeting with the media since he was hired in January.
