ESPN's Adam Schefter: Chip Kelly may not return to Eagles in 2016

UPDATE: Adam Schefter appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic Wednesday morning and told Anthony Gargano the media took his speculation about Chip Kelly's future in Philadelphia and reported it as fact. Listen here.

Previous report:

There haven't been any indications from anyone within the Eagles' organization that 2015 could be Chip Kelly's final year as head coach, but ESPN's Adam Schefter said on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday that he wouldn't be surprised if Kelly is coaching elsewhere in 2016.

"I think the momentum and signs seem to be piling up against a Chip [Kelly] return to Philadelphia," Schefter said during the interview. "I think both sides are sick of each other. I think the fans are tired of him. I think he's tired of the situation there. That's just my read from afar."

"I just think that Chip Kelly, if given a choice, might be comfortable elsewhere," he added.

Kelly still has two years remaining on the five-year contract he signed back in 2013. The Eagles' lackluster season, combined with the slew of head coaching vacancies at major college programs, has only fanned the flames of the rumors surrounding Kelly's potential departure.
