Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson wants to restructure contract

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is coming off a career year. And now, he wants his contract restructured.

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is coming off a career year, setting a new high in receiving yards (1,332) and tying a career high in touchdown receptions (nine). And now, he wants his contract restructured.

DeSean Jackson wants to restructure his deal. Concern is that though he is making about $10 million per, nothing is guaranteed.
Jackson says he's looking for security.
DeSean said he trusts his agent, Joel Segal, with his contract. Said he's confident he proved he's among best WRs in NFL.

Zach Berman discussed the Eagles' current financial situation in Monday's Inquirer:

The Eagles will have roughly $18 million in salary-cap space after accounting for the money allocated to draft picks. However, they have up to a dozen veterans who might need their contracts restructured in order to stay in Philadelphia, if they'll stay at all.

And keep in mind, that was written before Jackson voiced concern about his current deal - a five-year, $47 million contract he signed in 2012.

DeSean Jackson on wanting a new contract: "I think my season speaks for itself. Hopefully, we can work something out that's fair for the ...
"... both of us. I definitely feel it's deserving."
DeSean wants his contract restructured. Guess what? So do Eagles. His 2014 cap number is $12.5 million.
