DeMarco Murray approaching Cowboys game 'like any other week,' says he's 'emotionless' about decision to leave

DeMarco Murray will be the center of attention on Sunday when he faces the Dallas Cowboys, but the new Eagles running back said he's "just approaching it like any other week."

The Eagles signed Murray to a five-year, $40 million contract in March after the Cowboys failed to re-sign the running back even though he led the NFL in rushing last season. Murray said there are no hard feelings entering his first game against Dallas.

"Not from my end at all," Murray said. "This is a true business. I'm very emotionless when it comes to a lot of things - especially the business side. I understand the business side of the NFL. It's all about finding guys who are right for your system.

"I feel like I'm here, this is the best place for me, this is where I wanted to be, and this is the team that wanted me. I'm not worried about those guys. Great group of guys, great organization, have a lot of respect for them. But I moved on a long time ago, and I'm happy to be here."

Murray said playing Dallas does not enter his mind during preparation. He also does not think the familiarity with the Cowboys will help either side.

"A lot of stuff I've seen before," Murray said. "I'm sure they've seen some good stuff as well."

The Eagles signed offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde on Wednesday after placing center David Molk on injured reserve one day earlier. Vandervelde, 27, was released on Sept. 5. He is in his sixth stint with the Eagles and has been a part of 11 transactions involving the team since 2011, when the Eagles made him a fifth-round draft pick.

"You can't get rid of me around here," Vandervelde said. "Me and the Eagles are tied together. Forever in green. This is my second home now."

Vandervelde said he thought it was over when the Eagles released him earlier this month. He returned to Iowa and started preparing for the Celtic Highland Games of the Quad Cities. Then Molk tore his biceps and the Eagles needed a reserve center who knows the system.

"If nothing else, it shows if you work hard and have a positive attitude and are willing to try whatever they want you to try, you have a chance of being successful," Vandervelde said. "if I had insisted on just playing guard, I wouldn't be here right now."

Wide receiver Seyi Ajirotutu did not practice on Wednesday after suffering a concussion on Monday. Ajirotutu also has an elbow injury. Linebacker Marcus Smith was a full participant at practice while returning from a hamstring injury. . . . Falcons safety William Moore was fined $23,152 for using the crown of his helmet when he hit Jordan Matthews on Monday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The play was not flagged.
