Darren Sproles expected to miss at least one game with MCL sprain

UPDATE [2:02 p.m.]: Eagles head coach Chip Kelly confirmed during Monday's press conference that running back Darren Sproles suffered an MCL sprain on Sunday night and could be out for 1-2 weeks.

Kelly was evasive about whether Sproles could be back in time for the Oct. 26 game against the Cardinals and whether he would make a roster move to beef up the running back depth.

From earlier: Darren Sproles has an MCL tear in his left knee and is expected to be out for at least two weeks, according to an NFL source.

The Eagles running back had an MRI Monday morning and despite initial fears that he had suffered a more serious injury, isn't likely to miss a significant amount of time. The Eagles have a bye next week, so Sproles may miss only the Cardinals game the following week.

The Eagles may need to make a roster move. Chris Polk missed Sunday night's game againt the New York Giants with a hamstring injury which meant that tight end Trey Burton was pressed into action when Sproles left in the third quarter. The Eagles could sign Matthew Tucker off the practice squad. A lot will depend on Polk. He indicated after the game that he would be back after the bye.
