Cris Collinsworth singles out the Eagles as a Super Bowl contender

During the yearly Hall of Fame Game that kicks off the NFL's preseason, NBC's play-by-play guy Al Michaels asked color analyst Cris Collinsworth for a Super Bowl prediction. Collinsworth said he likes the Eagles' chances, via Andrew Porter of CBS:

“You know the team that I think will have a chance this year, is the Philadelphia Eagles,” Collinsworth said during the broadcast. “I just feel like Chip Kelly and what they did in that first year with that offense, I know they didn’t get it all in, and this year maybe a little bit more advanced Nick Foles. So I’m kind of keeping my eye on the Philadelphia Eagles.”

Later in the telecast, Michaels also asked Collinsworth who would be his first overall pick if he played fantasy football. Perhaps with the Eagles already in his brain, Collinsworth said LeSean McCoy.

The Eagles have two games scheduled on Sunday Night Football this season, so Collinsworth has already likely done some homework on them. He also did the Eagles' final two regular season games in 2013, when they stomped out the Bears at home, and won the NFC East division crown on the road in Dallas. Those two games probably left an impression on Collinsworth, and he obviously liked what he saw.

Collinsworth will get his first live look at the 2014 Eagles Week 6, when the Eagles host the Giants on SNF. The Eagles are also scheduled to host the Cowboys on SNF Week 15.
