Eagles' Carson Wentz to work with QB guru

MOBILE, Ala. -- Carson Wentz will train with independent quarterback instructor Adam Dedeaux in Southern California this offseason, according to the QB's agent, Ryan Tollner.

Dedeaux has worked with reknowned quarterback guru Tom House and recently bought out House's 3DQB company. Both are former pitchers -- Dedeaux at Southern Cal and House in the major leagues from 1971-78 -- who have worked with some of the biggest names in the NFL.

Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees and Eli Manning are among the quarterbacks who have trained with House over the last decade or so. The 3DQB program focuses on the biomechanics involved in a throwing a football, but it also tests quarterbacks on the mental and emotional parts of playing the position.

Wentz said the day after the Eagles' season ended that he was likely to train with some sort of "swing doctor."

"It's definitely in consideration," he said then.

Wentz, who started all 16 games as a rookie, appeared to have some mechanical issues as the season wore on. The Eagles had narrowed his base and raised his ball carriage during the last offseason, but when passes got away from him, they tended to sail high.

Tollner didn't know exactly when Wentz would head to Huntington Beach, Calif. to work with Dedeaux, but he said it would likely be sometime over the next two months. Wentz had said he would take about 3-4 weeks off before he started throwing again.

The Eagles aren't permitted to talk to players about football during this quiet time of year, per the collective bargaining agreement. Howie Roseman, Eagles executive vice president of football operations, said the team didn't know of Wentz's plans.

"That was the first we had heard about it," Roseman said Wednesday.

The Eagles' offseason workouts won't start until late April. Many of House's pupils typically returned to his program in the summer after spring practices and before training camp.
