Carson Wentz comes to Philadelphia after Eagles take him No. 2

Carson Wentz spent Friday at the Eagles' facility after flying from Chicago on Friday morning. He did not sleep much on Thursday night after the Eagles selected him with the No. 2 pick, and he met with the coaching staff and ownership group on Friday.

"Last night was crazy surreal for me," Wentz said. "As a kid growing up, it was kind of a dream. To finally be here and hear my name called, it was unbelievable. I'm excited to be here today and real antsy to get to work. They're not letting me go out to practice quite yet, but soon enough."

Wentz said that Doug Pederson "seems like a real player's coach," and he liked all the "quarterback knowledge and quarterback minds" on the coaching staff. He does not yet have a playbook, but when he does, he said he will "dive right in." He admitted that he's getting "antsy" after a long pre-draft process.

Wentz's only other time in Philadelphia was a 24-hour visit to the team facility. He hasn't much time here on Friday, but his visit included a cheesesteak.

He is still learning about his teammates. Tight end Zach Ertz sent him a text message, and a few players have sent him Tweets. They will get to know a player that the Eagles are touting as a winner.

"I think first and foremost, it's how I'm wired," Wentz said. "If I'm not the best at something, it kind of ticks me off and I want to work my tail off to be the best. It's also kind of my upbringing. My parents and my older brother always pushed me. I always was competitive with him, and I just hate losing. It's just kind of how I'm wired, and hopefully I can bring that to Philadelphia."

More to come…
