New Jersey shooting guard Trey Lowe orally committed to Temple on Thursday night, giving the Owls their first basketball commitment in the Class of 2015.
The 6-foot-6 Lowe averaged 27.8 points per game last season for Ewing High en route to the Central Jersey Group III title. He spent the summer on the AAU circuit with Philadelphia-based Team Final.
The Owls hope Lowe’s decision will help with the recruitment of Haverford School guard Levan Alston and Stevenson (Ill.) guard Jalen Brunson. All three guards are ranked in the Class of 2015’s Top 100 by ESPN.
Lowe chose the Owls over St. Joseph’s, Virginia Commonwealth, and Southern Methodist. Alston and Lowe, who played together the last two summers for Team Final, talked about playing together in college. Temple and VCU were the only schools they both listed in their final options.
Alston is also considering Penn, Penn State, Marquette, and Notre Dame. The 6-foot-4 guard is currently in Winston Salem, N.C. for Chris Paul’s invitation-only basketball camp. - Matt Breen
