Temple’s Jahad Thomas walks off the field after football practice in Philadelphia on Aug. 19, 2016.

Temple senior running back Jahad Thomas will not play in tonight's opening game against Army at Lincoln Financial Field due to a partial sprain in his left hand. Thomas hurt it earlier in camp and the team was afraid of potential fumbling.

Thomas is a returning first-team all-conference selection  who rushed for 1,262 yards 94.6 avg.) and 17 touchdowns.

He will be replaced by sophomore Ryquell Armstead, who had a strong camp. Armstead, who was bothered by turf toe his freshman year, rushed for 191 yards (3.7 avg.) and two touchdowns.
