Temple sophomore linebacker Tyler Matakevich was named to the 2013 College Football Performance Awards Watch List.

Last season Matakevich was named to the 2012 Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team. The 2012 Big East rookie of the year was also named the 2012 ECAC defensive rookie of the year.

Last season he was the first true freshman in school history to record 100 tackles. In 11 games he led the Owls with 101 tackles (67 solos), including three tackles for loss, three break-ups, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. 

The Owls open the regular season at Notre Dame on Aug. 31.
