Temple lands Wood's Colin Thompson

Former Archbishop Wood tight end Colin Thompson announced on Monday evening his plans to transfer from Florida to Temple.

The 6-foot-4, 256-pounder was a four-star recruit when he signed with Florida in 2012. Thompson played in three games over two seasons with the Gators as he battled foot injuries. He visited Penn State last month.

In his senior year at Wood, Thompson caught 13 passes for 208 yards and four touchdowns en route to leading the Vikings to their first ever PIAA Class AAA title. ESPN and Scout ranked him as the nation’s second-best tight end and he played in the Under Armour All-American Game. He chose the Gators over Alabama, Penn State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, and others.
