Head football coach James Franklin will embark on the annual Penn State Coaches Caravan in May, according to a release issued Wednesday by the Nittany Lions football program.

Franklin and head coaches of other Nittany Lions athletic teams will make 17 stops on the caravan including two in the Philadelphia area – an evening reception May 13 in King of Prussia, and a luncheon May 14 in Center City Philadelphia. Exact times and locations will be announced soon, the release said.

Franklin, who was hired as Penn State football coach on Jan. 11, will meet and greet guests before the functions begin.

The caravan will kick off on May 1 in State College. The first out-of-town appearances will be May 6 in York and Hershey.

Details on participating coaches and registration will be announced at a later date.

The caravan is sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lions Club. Members of the two organizations will be available to register in advance, followed by public registration, the release said.
