Tom Thibodeau has spent 19 years as an assistant coach in the NBA, but has yet to be a head coach.

The 76ers plan to find out why, and what type of candidate he is to become their next coach. They probably already know a lot about him, but the public might not, in part because Celtics' assistants are not free to speak with the media during the NBA season.

Thibodeau appears to be next in line after president/general manager Ed Stefanski's sessions with Eddie Jordan, Dwane Casey and Kurt Rambis.

Celtics' coach Doc Rivers said of Thibodeau, ''He's terrific, has unbelivable knowledge, has been so good for me and my staff. He knows the game, is a great teacher. In some ways, he's so good defensively people overlook his overall knowledge.''

We'll tell you a little more about Thibodeau, also on the radar of the Sacramento Kings, in Thursday's Daily News.

GetRidofIguodola... How stupid do U sound... 1st off... in a trade a player has to be making with in 15% of the players salaries that you want to trade for... 2nd of all you just can trade a 1st round pick for a player... and for all of you Igudola haters... it's not his fault they paid him that money... is he a super star no... but he is the best player on this team... and that was proven during the playoffs... People get real... unless we get a better Center and a back up point gaurd and a back up SF for this teams it’s going to have the same make up for years to come... I will say this Iguodola does have to work on his out side shot this year if he is to be the SG... he knows it and the team knows it.

I'm a huge 76ers fan as well. Stop hating on Iguodala. His jumpshot has been getting better and better every year. He can be a great SG once he gets his consistency down. He should work with shooting coach this offseason. BTW it's not iggy's fault that we lost the first round. We just don't have a good enough center/PF to defend howard one-on-one. To get better, the 76ers need to do these: get a better C, sign a great coach, incorporate elton brand into the offense, get more people who can shoot 3's. don't want to hate on dalembert, but I think he is better off as a back-up off the bench.

This is a public board, so anyone can post. It's too bad so many of the posters are absolutely clueless. Here we have an article about the a potential new head coach and someone goes completely off-topic, saying we should trade away our best player. Stefanski isn't going to find much good advice here!

The sixers will eventually have to decide on what they are going to do with Andre IGGY and Thad Young. Thad can't continue to play PF and Iggy can't play the SG. which one do you keep? I say keep Thad and let Iggy go while people still view him as an up and coming star. They need a pure shooter to keep the defense honest and neither one of them fit the bill.

im going to use the eagles style of fa lets pick up shannon brown (backup pgfrom LA) it wouldnt cost you much. he plays ok defense & you draft your pg of the future if brown works out you extend him if he doesnt you already have a pg in place.
