Turner enjoys workout, visit to Philly

Ohio State's Evan Turner is planning one -- and only one -- workout before the NBA draft and that is with the Sixers, who are expected to take him with the second overall pick next Thursday.

"Going through a workout at an NBA facility was a lot of fun," Turner told reporters after his session for team executives at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. "I think it was a good atmosphere and I think I made a lot of shots today."

Turner also sounded optimistic about what the future might bring should he join the Sixers. Turner and point guard Jrue Holiday, selected in the first round last year, could be the team's backcourt for many years to come.

"I feel confident that I can come in and help improve this team," Turner said. "I'm progressing and I feel confident that that brighter days are coming."

Turner has been in Philadelphia since yesterday morning. His stops included a visit to Geno's, for a cheesesteak, no cheese. He also toured the Wachovia Center and had a chance to interact with some fans in his travels. The Sixers' brass took him to dinner as well.

"A philly fan just came up and gave me some props..that's what's up," he wrote on Twitter.

The Sixers will work out Derrick Favors and DeMarcus Cousins tomorrow and Wes Johnson on Saturday.
