Turner enjoys workout, visit to Philly
Bob Cooney
Ohio State's Evan Turner is planning one -- and only one -- workout before the NBA draft and that is with the Sixers, who are expected to take him with the second overall pick next Thursday.
"Going through a workout at an NBA facility was a lot of fun," Turner told reporters after his session for team executives at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. "I think it was a good atmosphere and I think I made a lot of shots today."
Turner also sounded optimistic about what the future might bring should he join the Sixers. Turner and point guard Jrue Holiday, selected in the first round last year, could be the team's backcourt for many years to come.
"I feel confident that I can come in and help improve this team," Turner said. "I'm progressing and I feel confident that that brighter days are coming."
Turner has been in Philadelphia since yesterday morning. His stops included a visit to Geno's, for a cheesesteak, no cheese. He also toured the Wachovia Center and had a chance to interact with some fans in his travels. The Sixers' brass took him to dinner as well.
"A philly fan just came up and gave me some props..that's what's up," he wrote on Twitter.
The Sixers will work out Derrick Favors and DeMarcus Cousins tomorrow and Wes Johnson on Saturday.

Turner ordered a steak with no cheese ....? Never trust a man that orders a steak with no cheese ... azsixerfan
Right because a pork sandwich with broccoli rabe would have been less predicitable? Fascism Rules
he will be this year's draft's Brandon Roy. A polished player that is ready to contribute right now with supposedly no upside. I'm tired of these 19 and 20 year old's with upside that never pan out after getting picked so high. This kid is a stud. The media is saying he doesn't have speed or isn't athletic. He broke bones in his lower back last December for god's sake. He didn't look unathletic pinning shots on the board or shooting over defenders. And how do you average 9 boards a game from the point gaurd position being unathletic? Don't give me that fact that he's 6'7" spin. Last time I checked, the college game had plenty of 7 footers! ricolaw- SEE YA SAMMY D!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!
Who'd we trade Sammy D too? SmokeyBear
Yeah, Tonka, you speak from firsthand failure yourself, I assume. He is already far and away more successful than you'll ever be. Such a bitter little man you are. phillyinsd- Tonka -- how do you figure?
The best photo in the lot is the one with Coach! rruffin
the sixer better take Turner eagles18
If they dont take turner, nobody should attend their home opener, it should literally be an empty building. xMikelaw19
I agree with you xMikelaw19 if they don't take turner then that building will be worst than last year attendance, that's like coming to see snother Brandon Roy play every night where you know he is going to give you 20pts 8reb 5 asst 2 steals at least evry night. We remember what they did when they had the #2 pick last time, can anyone say Shawn Bradley to give you 20pts, 8reb 5asst 2 steals a game. They better not mess this douglasrdd
no cheeze whiz? the young man is taking care of his body. a very serious competitor. rzzzzz
Maybe he has lactose issues....cuz honestly guys..im sure the first impression he wanted to make was that he was stinkin up the limo and sharting all over the PCOM floor...yeah..that would be a crappy first impression (pardon the pun..or dont...w/e is funnier..) POTIN
He has a flawed releae point - too far away from dominate right eye. Form is similar to 35% career shooter Johnny Dawkins LA Mike
