Source: Spurs assistant Brown mulling Sixers' coaching job
A source close to the situation says Brett Brown has been offered the job of Sixers head coach.
The Sixers' job is Brett Brown's if he wants it.
A source close to the situation told the Daily News today that Brown, a Spurs assistant coach, has been offered the position of head coach by the Sixers. Brown met with general manager Sam Hinkie on Wednesday in New York.
Oddly, when Hinkie was an assistant general manager in Houston 2 years ago, he interviewed Brown for an undisclosed job opening.
The Sixers have been without a head coach since Doug Collins resigned on April 18, a day after the Sixers finished off a dismal 34-48 season.
Brown has been an assistant in San Antonio under Gregg Popovich since 2006-07 after spending five seasons in the front office. Before joining the Spurs, he was a successful head coach for nine seasons in the Austrialian National Basketball League.
There is no indication of when the Sixers would like to get an answer from Brown, but it seems as though one of the most bizarre coaching searches in team history is coming to an end.
