Sixers to start bringing in draft prospects
As we reported in Tuesday's Daily News, the Sixers are scheduled to host their first set of prospects in advance of the June 25 NBA draft on Friday.
Here is more on the players currently expected to attend:
* Toney Douglas, Florida State, point or shooting guard, 6-1, 196. Averaged 21.5 points and 2.9 assists per game in 35 games as a senior. Shot 44.6 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from the arc and 81 percent from the free throw line.
* Stefon Jackson, Texas-El Paso, shooting guard, 6-5, 185. Averaged 24.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in 37 games as a senior. Shot 42.7 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from the arc and 83.4 percent from the free throw line. Jackson is a graduate of King in Philadelphia.
* Ty Lawson, North Carolina, point guard, 6-foot, 195. Averaged 16.6 points, 6.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game in 35 games as a senior. Shot 53.2 percent from the field, 47.2 percent from the arc and 79.8 percent from the free throw line.
* Jodie Meeks, Kentucky, shooting guard, 6-4, 208. Averaged 23.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 36 games as a junior. Shot 46.3 percent from the field, 40.6 percent from the arc and 90.2 percent from the free throw line.
* Terrence Williams, Louisville, shooting guard, 6-2, 220. Averaged 12.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in 37 games as a senior. Shot 43.1 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from the arc and 58.1 percent from the free throw line.
Ty Lawson was 47% from 3 and 53% overall from the field in the ACC, a better Conference than the SEC in basketball. Reems
I like Lawson. I also thought Terrence Williams was more like 6'6". derrickh
Can we look at some guys who aren't so smurfy? Small PG's are tolerable, but not SG's. ematusko
I like Jodie Meeks out of Kentuckey, has decent size and a pretty good shooter (and amazing, he can shoot free throws:) but heck, what do I know!!! DJ
I like the Meeks kid too because his strength is more than shooting. He is a bigger point guard than most, may rebound too and will not wear down like the little itsy bitty guards that come out of college nowadays. Curry will find that out very soon. KGKoons
This draft is so deep at the position the 6ers can bring in as many as 5-6 more guard propects. homer2811
Yeah, Terrence Williams is 6'6. coatesvillain

Where is the VCU and St. Mary's kids? Sports4Life- i like lawson too...real polished...and great speed and shooting touch...from deep and and inside the 3....i think the sixers will make the right move and get a guy at 17....wether it be a sg...or point...someone who can get a shot off..they will....if lawson is there to me its a no brainer...and i think the sixers like him... teenwolf
Terrence Williams is 6'6. He doesn't fit here. He's another swingman. We have to get a point guard or a pure shooting guard in this draft. Ty Lawson is my choice if he is on the board. He would fit in well leading the break with Iggy and Thad. Shenkman3
KGKoons, Jodie Meeks a point guard? I hope not averaging 1.8 assists per game. Meeks = Willie Green. Too small to play the 2 in the NBA. Ty Lawson to run the point for the next 12 years. Sign and trade Miller to Sacramento for Kevin Martin. dds124
Move up to get Steph Curry from Davidson. commissioner_gordon

commissioner_gordon - Steph Curry = Allen Iverson. You want to go there again??? The Sixers need to draft Ty Lawson. He can do what Steph does to a degree and run a team the way a point guard is supposed to. dds124
