The Sixers will return to the Wachovia Spectrum for a free open practice session on Saturday, Oct. 10, Comcast-Spectacor announced this morning.
The session is scheduled for 11 a.m. No tickets are required and the doors open at 10 a.m.
“With October being the final month of the Spectrum and the excitement the team generated last season with their special Return to the Spectrum game, we felt it was important for the fans to be able to celebrate the many wonderful memories of the Spectrum with the Sixers one more time,” Comcast-Spectacor president Peter Luukko said in a statement.
The open practice features warmup drills, shooting practice, and an intersquad scrimmage. Assistant coach Mike O’Koren will wear a microphone and describe the action to the fans as it’s happening and forward Andre Iguodola will welcome the fans with a special pre-practice opening announcement.
The practice coincides with individual game tickets going on sale, beginning at 10 a.m. that day
The Sixers open the 2009-10 home portion of their schedule on Friday, October 30, when they host the Milwaukee Bucks at 7 p.m.
Did I just read a comment from Ricky that said the Sixers are more athletic than Cleveland? Really? Is Shaq any less athletic than Elton Brand? Is Ilgauskis (sp.) any less athletic than Sammy "I have feet for hands" Dalembert? ...and LeBron's athleticism alone makes Cleveland more athletic than the Sixers. Boston added Rasheed Wallace. Not the most impressive move, but the Sixers did what this offseason? ...and a motivated Vince Carter, and he will be motivated this year, is a far better player than Hedo, who will go back to being the slug that he is now that he got his money. The Sixers ceiling is 45 wins and that's if everything breaks right. Billy The Kid
Who ? They still stink Big Ragu
After Orlando, Cleveland and Boston everyone else in the East is the same. No reason they can't win 45-50 games and be 4th. Some of the neagtive comments on here are from people that haven't watched an NBA game in years and know nothing about basketball. Glen71
wait, they didnt tear the spectrum down yet? i remember the exciteent when i was in high school of driving to f&M to see training camp, when moses joined cheeks and Dr. j, and then when i got Charles' autograph the day he signed... not sure id go across the street for training camp of this squad, but might take my boys down to see the spectrum before its gone... jim715

Glen71, I hope that comment wasn't directed toward me. Not trying to be negative, just trying to look at this realistically...and believe me, I'm a fan of the Sixers, but I'm not going to be one of those drones that insist eveything is fine with this team when, in reality, they've done nothing to improve themselves. Other than the three teams mentioned, Atlanta is still a better team than the Sixers. Washington has more talent than the Sixers, but nobody knows how that team will turn out. New Jersey has a good young group of players, and Chicago may have lost Gordon, but still has a good young team led by Derrick Rose. All this is happening around the Sixers while they did what again? C'mon man, don't tell people they don't know the NBA when you said the Sixers could win 50 games in the same post. That's a joke. Billy The Kid
Billy the Kid: Atlanta's better than the Sixers?! No they aren't lol maybe on paper but not in the actual games. We played Atlanta 3 times last season and beat them two out of the three. May I add that we beat them pretty convincingly too. Sorry but you're wrong on that one pal. I think the Bulls are pretty good but they aren't better than the Sixers. On the Wizards, hmmmm, I kind of agree with you on that one but nothings proven until the season starts. I'm not even going to mention New Jersey lol. 50 wins isn't impossible. Did we forget the Sixers were making a nice run at the end of the season until Thad got hurt? We could have easily been the fourth seed. Wait until the season comes...Sky's the limit. deasytrent
Hilarious! So the Sixers are better than Atlanta, even though Atlanta went onto the second round of the playoffs and finished ahead of them in the standings, because they beat them 2 of 3 during the season last year? Umm, with that logic, you shouldn't laugh about New Jersey...NJ went 4-0 vs. the Sixers last year. HA! Dude, you're a clown. I forgot more about the NBA then you'll ever know. Billy The Kid
The Sixers are trying to find their way, new Coach, new offense, trying to fight the salary cap. The need to realize that money brings the better players. There is no development of players, Other than Lou who have they worked on development. Big bucks to potential? Bad choices historically has been their weakness since the 70's & 80's. Bad trades have hurt this team over the years. They have given away championship teams via trades. Pay now, win now may not be the key for developing competitive teams. They Miss AI, but he doesn't miss them (maybe the fans). Long time fan since Greer, Luke Jackson, Wally JOOOOOnes, Etc. Bobby Jones was a model Sixer, Could be a good ASST Coach.
