Jrue Holiday drove the lane, found an open Jason Kapono standing alone behind the three-point line on the right wing and hit him with a perfect pass. Kapono, one of the surest three-point shooters in the league, hit nothing but net.
Those two were the two best players on the court last night in a spirited scrimmage at Saint Joseph's last night during the 76ers second day of training camp under new coach Doug Collins.
Kapono drained three long jumpers last night, and looked good finding his open spots on the floor. That could help this team big time if Kapono can consistently hit his outside shot. It will be interesting to see how many minutes Collins will find for him.
Holiday continuously drove the lane, either finding open teammates or going to the basket himself. He was also very disruptive on the defensive end.
Among the big men, Spencer Hawes ran the floor very well and hit his open shots and Mo Speights also ran very well. Assistant coach Aaron McKie praised the work of rookie Evan Turner.
There will be just one workout out for the team tonight as they prepare for Tuesday's preseason opener against the Nets in Roanoke, Va.
Comment removed.- I also heard that Meeks was draining shots. The Sixers with Holiday, Turner, Williams and Meeks are covered at guard. Turner is going to find his stride and then he and Holiday will be a tremendous back court. When the Sixers got Meeks I was very pleased. I really thought a lot of him when he came out of college. I was hoping the Sixers could get him and they did. Horlet
