Sixers coach Doug Collins leaves bench with symptoms relating to vertigo

POSTED: Wednesday, November 3, 2010, 8:27 PM

Sixers coach Doug Collins, who missed two preseason games due to vertigo, had to stay in the locker room at halftime of the Sixers-Pacers game dut to recurring symptoms.

Collins suffered broken ribs and a concussion in a fall on Memorial Day and has been suffering from dizzyness and headaches. He left the team in Cincinnati during the preseason and missed that game along with a game the next night in Philadelphia.

Collins appeared fine before the game and was up and down off the bench, as usual, during the first half in which the Sixers took a 57-31 lead looking for their first win.

His return to tonight's game is questionable.

I hope coach is ok. Sixers looked great tonight- good work coach! Brand is playing very well. His game has never been predicated on expolsiveness. Rather, his success is a function of his strength and his ability to hit two types of shots: the straight away 15 footer and the fall away bunny. He's hitting both again, so maybe he can return to his old dominant self. Lou Williams looked great again on the perimeter. I would like to see him develop a dribble-through move where he dribbles into the lane, maintains the dribble and goes right on through. On the way out, look for a cutter. Steve Nash does this a lot and every point guard needs to add it to their arsenal. At the moment, Lou goes into the air when he gets near the hoop. This move would give him a strong alternative.

The Sixers are playing hard. Still don't have enough talent but Jrue is going to be very good. Turner should be a solid player. Nice to see a little heart out there.

Collins could have Lyme disease which has become an epidemic that many people have and do not know it. The inaccuracy of conventional testing (ELISA and Western Blot tests) make detection of this disorder very difficult. Vertigo and headaches are common Lyme symptoms.

Hey dougie get better. you got the right spirit. you can barely see straight and you're out there trying to make the sixers better. everyone knows you really care about putting a winning basketball team together and brother you got a huge challenge but.... take the time to find out exactly what is wrong with you and how to treat it. you laid the foundation they can do without you for a while just get healthy.

me thinks that his body ain't quite healed...and that his full tilt style (as both player and coach) needs to adapt somewhat the john wooden approach to coaching...same internal fire, but a much more controlled physical demeanor...at least till he's 100%
