Sixers Sign Iverson

Is bringing Iverson back a good idea?
Yes
No

It's a done deal. The 76ers have signed free agent guard Allen Iverson, and said he will make his debut Monday night when they face the Denver Nuggets at the Wachovia Center.

"The buzz is here," Iverson's agent, Leon Rose, told the Daily News this morning. "It's a great opportunity for Allen and something I know he's extremely excited about and looking forward to."

Iverson, who lives in Atlanta, is expected to arrive in Philadelphia in the next day or two.

A source familiar with the Sixers situation said the deal is for the remainder of the season, pro-rated at $1.3 million, the NBA veterans' minimum for players with at least 10 seasons of experience. The source said it is non-guaranteed, but would become guaranteed if Iverson is on the roster Jan. 10.

"In light of the recent injury to Lou Williams, which will sideline him for close to eight weeks, we felt that Allen was the best available free agent guard to help us at this time,'' said Sixers president/general manager Ed Stefanski.

Iverson was waived Nov. 16 by the Memphis Grizzlies after appearing in just three games. He and agent Leon Rose negotiated a settlement of his one-year contract.

Iverson spent the first 10 seasons-plus of his career with the Sixers before being traded to the Nuggets in December, 2006. He was subsequently traded to the Detroit Pistons.

Iverson, 34, is a 10-time All-Star and a four-time scoring champion. He was the league's Most Valuable Player in 2000-01.

It really doesn't matter. The front office, with their impressive spending, has set the team back multiple years (how long until the end of Brand and Iggy's contracts?). So what if a few more foolish people go to the games? The ONLY thing that they can accomplish in the next year or two is make the 8th spot. Wouldn't we rather see them at the bottom of the league so that they have a shot at a lottery pick?

There goes about half of our ping pong balls in the next lottery. What a joy to watch the team win 30 games instead of 25.

Horrible move. Proves Ed Stafanski has no clue. Let the young guys play. If they lose, they can a better chance in the lottery. Iverson will be a ball hog (again). Do you think Thad Young and Andre I. would have had a chance to hit the shots they made against Mavs Monday with this cancer on the team?

Iverson dribbles down court throws it to Mcnabb who tries to pass it to J-Roll but throws it atraight down at his feet , J-Roll recovers and throws it back to Iverson but it goes way over his head , Iverson gets a lucky rebound off Marc Zumoffs humungous head , he then dribbles through all five defenders and throws up a wild shot at the buzzer - AIRBALL!
