Sixers Adding Brezec
The 76ers have reached an agreement in principle to sign veteran center Primoz Brezec, according to multiple sources.
The deal is supposedly for one year at the minimum for a player with seven seasons of service in the NBA.
The 7-1 Brezec, 29, is expected to come to Philadelphia sometime next week. He is currently playing with the Slovenian National Team.
Brezec spent last season in Italy after logging time with the Indiana Pacers, the Charlotte Bobcats, the Detroit Pistons and the Toronto Raptors.
More coming in tomorrow's Daily News.

Hmm is that guy on that commercial where his agent takes him around and says "Primoz only wants to play for Dallas... Primoz only wants to play for Barcelona... ect ect. Hey he ended with the Sixers! See he really wanted to only play for us. allrightknight
Public relations nightmare!!!! The Sixers want your tired, your poor, any player with NBA experience who will accept the NBA minimum. You have two more spots to fill with no names at the minimum. There should be some real creative marketing ploys to sell tickets this coming season. Why else would you go to a game? RunningTheBases

You people will all eat your words when Brezek, Kapono, and Ivey have breakout seasons and Jordan becomes coach of the year. More likely the Sixers will be selling tickets at half price a quarter of the way through the season. Jones, a bonfide NBA loser, has a real shot at breaking Roy Rubin's 9 and 73 season with this array of useless pickups. And Jrue Holliday is a no shot stiff. This downward spiral starts at the top. Snyder needs to go and take Stefanski with him. Throwback
Tough fans. This season really comes down to Brand being healthy and finding a way to fit him in the sixer's game plan. Those are 2 big ifs, but he's been an all-star before. If he reaches that level again with the other sixers young guys improving, this could be a much improved team. Ascher
Is Stefanski trying to outdo all the horrible moves and contracts that Billy King bogged this franchise down with? PaHoops
people, don't you realize he's just a roster filler, SHEESH!!!! Why should Ed cut minutes for Speights and Jason and stop their development by signing some overpriced over the hill center. He may turn out to be good and if not, his loss. That's why Ed gave him a one year deal to prove himself NBA worthy, just like Ivey. By the way, it's not Brand's deal that's hurting the team, it's Sammy and Willie's deal which will be expiring the following season and possibly used as trade bait. People who said "WE SHOULD'VE GOTTEN SHAQ" "WE SHOULD'VE GOTTEN THIS STAR OR THAT STAR, ETC." really don't understand what planning for the future is all about. I'm not saying this guy is a stud, but it's good that Ed is giving him a chance to earn his right to be in the NBA. Juiceman222
PaHoops, basically that's what he's doing. If Billy King were still here, he would've gave this guy, Ivey and Miller ridiculous multiyear deals, probably gave Brand and Iguodala the "Arenas" deal and have us in luxury tax and cap hell for the next 5 years lol. Juiceman222
Unfortunately, Ed is finding out just how the League that David (Stern) built works. To become a championship caliber team requires tanking at least one season and preferably two in order to get a young superstar or get quality picks for trading purposes, like the Celtics. This is a star-driven league, period. The Sixers decided to get Brand, a nice player when not injured, but not a star like James or Bryant or Nowitzki, not a guy who can virtually carry a team. They also hitched their wagon to Iguodala and Dalembert, the former another good player, not a star, the latter a mediocrity who has been stealing money for years. This may be hindsight, but I did not like the Brand signing, because, even if healthy, he could not fit into a young, run and gun team which, if not a championship team, was at least entertaining and capable of making the playoffs for one round and, with the addition of a star who could fit the system, a team capable of going deeper. On the other hand, Brand is fine for a half-court offense, but the rest of the team is not; thus, Stefanski created two separate teams, and now has brought in a weak coach with a "system" to put it all together, which will just not happen. Hopefully, they will be so bad that a lottery pick beckons, which will enable them to begin the long, hard climb to greatness. Whether Stefanski, any more than King, is the right person remains to be seen, but thus far it does not look good. chuckw
you guys are so ungrateful; it's sickening! Players can get better. Yeah, okay, we have some no names but who knows what will happen during the season. He may be better than you expect him to turn out. I like Royal Ivey also. I don't expect him to do much except run the ball up the court. Chauncey Billups sucked for a few seasons and look at him; he's a beast! I still believe this team will be better. deasytrent
Comment removed.- If the plan is to get as horrible as possible and then finally get a lottery pick, then well done so far. If they are serious about trying to win with these scrubs then I'll watch as many games this season as I have in the last three years...ZERO!!! What a pathetic franchise. bag853
- Juiceman222: With all due respect your making no sense at all. Willie Green is a bench player and he is getting paid like one. Dalembert has be playing like a stiff. But the amount he makes is as bad as the trade kicker that pretty much makes his untradable. Having said all of that the Sixers were WAY under the cap before STIFFanksi squandered it on a 6'8" PF coming off an injury without working him out. Iguodala may take his game to the next level he may not, but he is getting paid like a guy that averages in 20 - 25 point per game. He has done that yet. STIFFanksi put us here not Dalembert and Green contract. Cap wise we were sitting pretty until Stefanski came along.
- Juiceman222 How do you assume Billy king signs Brand. Deal with reality. You don't have to sign a FA to improve the team. You make trades or draft well. If you're going to start Lou Willaims and sign a backup why draft a guy to be your third PG when you have good SG on the board. That was a luxury pick, we can't afford luxury! An average starting SG would be better than Willie Green's 9 points per game. Wayne Ellington couldn't start for this team??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
BigVilFromWestPhil - Billy King would have signed Brand, it was talked about. You have to admit that everyone was all about the Brand signing.. If he can come back healthy and play like the All Star player he was then the Sixers will be pretty good.. gallen024
