Sixers Adding Brezec

POSTED: Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 4:50 PM

The 76ers have reached an agreement in principle to sign veteran center Primoz Brezec, according to multiple sources.

The deal is supposedly for one year at the minimum for a player with seven seasons of service in the NBA.

The 7-1 Brezec, 29, is expected to come to Philadelphia sometime next week. He is currently playing with the Slovenian National Team.

Brezec spent last season in Italy after logging time with the Indiana Pacers, the Charlotte Bobcats, the Detroit Pistons and the Toronto Raptors.

More coming in tomorrow's Daily News.

Primoz Brezec? Isn't that a 12in. hoagie with peppered ham?

wow a slower less athletic version of Jason Smith. One more guy who can't rebound the ball. But he can shoot a jump shot since that is all the sixers will be doing this year.

Just write off the Sixers for the next two years. This team is going no-where.

This actually is a very solid pickup. Check out his numbers with charlotte. Id take this guy over sammy dalembert any day of the week. Its not meant to be the blockbuster pickup for us. This guy is a very solid rebounding big man off the bench. Sixers will be fine if brand is healthy.

Sammy better watch his back. There is a new stiff in town. All jokes aside for anyone that said signing Big Baby would take minutes. Adding talent is never a bad thing. Signing Brezec is a nothing move. I don't want to be negative but how can you look at what other teams have done and feel good about the Sixers. STIFFanski took the summer off. Unless every player on this team takes their game to another level Dileo will be in Secaucus with that clueless look onn his face.

I'm thinking about trying out for the 76ers...Granted I never played basketball, except in Gym class...but I think I could make the team.

Again, some of you commentators show how much you don't understand the NBA. The Sixers are over the cap and there is no gamebreaker out there. Patience, people. The Phillies(aka the WFC) were not built overnight

Boy, i'm glad i didn't bite on season tickets when Elton rolled into town. This team would be lucky to finish ahead of the dirty Knicks this year.
