Sixers to work out two Big East players
The Sixers will work out two Big East players on Friday in preparation for the June 28 NBA draft.
Moe Harkless (St. John's) and Hollis Thompson (Georgetown) will be at the Sixers' workout facility.
Harkless is a 6-9 forward from New York who left St. John's after his freshman year. He is 19 years old. He started all 32 games for the Red Storm, averaging 15.5 points and 8.7 rebounds.
Thompson is a 6-8 forward who left the Hoyas after his junior year. He started 40 of 82 games in his career. He averaged 8.1 points and 3.7 rebounds. He is from Los Angeles.

A couple of very long, athletic wings...Harkless played near the basket in his freshman season, and will have to improve on the perimeter...but intrigues...he's a first rounder...Hollis Thompson will "D" up Harkless in this one on one bout...I like Harkless, but when do the bigs come in? bearsfriend
If they don't start bringing in bigs that tells you they plan to get the bigs via trade or free agency. It also says they don't think any of the bigs that will be available when they pick are ready to help. mtairy1- Exactly...I do know that Henson is in next week, and I'm sure there will be at least 4-6 of the names that have been bantered about(Moultrie,Joneses,Zeller,Leonard,WHITE)...But I'm still wondering why the Sixers just feed the media scraps of info at a time (prospect list one day in advance)...

Actually, I would be surprised if their draft target has a publicized workout. Remember the secrecy around Iguodala's visit before the Sixers drafted him? sfactor- Although they'll be secretive in their intentions, they will have their first pick in for an individual workout...No way in the world the overcontrolling Doug Collins would pick a player that he didn't probe fully...Memphis Grizzlies took Hasheem Thabeet, sight unseen..Nuff said.

The sixers may need to use the 2nd of their 2nd round pickson Yancy Gates 6' 9" PF / C from Cinncinnati as knicks are interested in him as free agent. As a FA, he woul probably choose the big lights over Philly. Or we trade for another late 2nd. edogs
We have a lot of roster spots to fill, gone are: Meeks, Brackins, Silas, Battie, and Young. Next group of most likely gone are: Hawes, Williams, and Brand. Maybe is Iggy. So out of this draft, for 2nd round value I like: G-Taylor-Kansas, F-Green-Alabama, F-Jones-WV, G-Barton-Memphis,F-O'Quinn-NS, G-Buford-OSU. edogs
edogs:from your list, Kyle O'Quinn and JayMychal Green are both potential picks at 45...Taylor,Odom-Johnson, or Jared Cunningham could become athletic defensive guard options as well...While Myers Leonard and Terrence Ross would make sense, one name to remember...ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE! bearsfriend
i also like scott and crowder in 2nd round. both good all around players HDemetriou
I love Mike Scott and Hollis Thompson as 2nd rounders. The Sixers need outside shooting, yes. But shot blocking and overall size is another need. I think Scott could bring that as a guy at the back of the rotation. If Lavoy continues as a smaller five, the Sixers could use a shot blocker next to him at the four on that 2nd unit. DeanoP44
I love how bearsfriend keeps mentioning Royce White -- a-la last year and Faried. Hey bear - if you get this one right too (and Royce ends up being more than a poor man's Boris Diaw) - the Sixers FO might start listening to you! Copper34
