Sixers' bench among league's best
How impressive has the Sixers' bench been during their 10-4 start?
A few facts, courtesy of the league's media newsletter that came out today:
* The Sixers are the only team in the league to have their leading scorer come off the bench -- Lou Williams at 15.7 points per game.
* Three of the Sixers' top five scorers are reserves -- Williams, Thad Young (12.4, fourth) and Evan Turner (10.8, fifth).
* The Sixers' bench accounts for av average of 43.14 points per game, which is roughly 43 percent of their average total of 101. That is third in the league. Dallas is No. 1 at 45.67 and Denver, which beat the Sixers last night, is third at 44.07.
* Through games played last night, the five teams with the league's top scoring reserves are a combined 42-29 (.592).
* The Sixers have a four-game lead in their division, the largest of any division leader.
* Williams is second in the league at bench scoring, behind Oklahoma City's James Harden at 16.3.
Tha Field Goal Unit is getting buckets, they are among the best benches in the league,if not THE best! I like watching the second unit more than the starters. Lou( who looks like AI jr at times this year) is more fun to watch than Jrue(who still isn't sure if he wants to be Gary Payton or World B. Free) . ET (who should get votes for Most Improved)is more fun to watch than Meeks (a BROKE man's Raja Bell) and Thad Young(gotta be one of the quickest leapers in the NBA) is more fun to watch than Iguodala(still can't close a game or else team would be 12-2). I even like watching the rookie Vucevic (he will eventually start in the NBA) play more than I like watching Brand (seemngly on his last legs) plod up and down the court these days. paulydak
@paulydak...good job..but they're the night shift!...How much better would this production be if DC would give Lou a bigger role than he has....Times these comparable scorers who come off the bench have played 30 minutes to date this season for their teams.....Jason Terry (7),James Harden(9),Nick Young (8),Toney Douglass (5)...I could go on...Low Williams has played over 30....0 times!...Jrue holiday has played over 40...4 out the last 5 games...Show some love Doug...PLAY LOU! bearsfriend
A agree that turner and Lou should be on the court MORE and Jrue less. jrue is often on the court with the starters and the bench players. He plays a lot of minutes but I dont see any major drop off in production when he's on the bench. DC acts like the offense will collapse if JH isnt on the court. Yakov
Let's let Doug coach the team, he seems to be doing a pretty good job dwilly
