Two sources have confirmed that Sean Singletary, a star guard from Virginia who attended Penn Charter, Haverford School and Perkiomen School, will be in training camp with the 76ers.

The information first surfaced on CavalierDaily.com. The website said Singletary has ''a conditional contract'' with the team.

The 6-foot Singletary, 24, appeared in 13 games last season with the Phoenix Suns and 24 games with the Charlotte Bobcats. He was a second-round draft choice of the Sacramento Kings in 2008.

He joins Bryant Stith and Ralph Sampson as the only Cavaliers to be named All-Atlantic Coast Conference three times; his No. 44 jersey was retired in a ceremony Feb. 15.

The Sixers will open training camp Sept. 29 at Saint Joseph's University.

wow, that should get them up to 55, maybe 60 wins! OK, in reality, still looking at 30-35 win season, at best. John R

Singletary has "a conditional contract" - means he's just a body for camp.... wait: we don't have a point guard.. oh geez. i guess he's a starter now.

lottery? why? nothing spectacular available in next years draft unless you get excited about the likes of cole aldrich and willie warren. i certainly dont. the only way next years draft materializes into anything special is if the freshman class delivers as expected. still, most of those guys (derrick favors, john wall, demarcus cousins, etc.) play positions already of strength for the sixers.

NBA finals here we come. How much do you think it will be for the entire Sixers team to buy tickets.

ok he is a philly native but honestly he is still young ad unproven.. you pass on a guy like Flip Murray because he wants 2 years and you only want to give 1.. a guy who has been in the league and can play both guard spots and has some play off experience.. you can put Willie Green, Royal Ivey and now Singletary all in one package and you still won't get a better player than 1 Flip Murray..

Jaydes, he didn't play with the Heat you clown. He was with the Suns and traded to Charlotte as a part of the Jason Richardson trade. You've probably never seen him play. This isn't newsworthy because the move will help the Sixers win 60 games, it's newsworthy because he's a local kid signing with the Sixers (see Christmas, Dionte). We get it the Sixers are going to stink...offer something mildly different.

sixers should have signed Ramon Sessions. He's not a star but he runs a team right and would have been a perfect fit complimenting Lou Williams. Oh well....
