Scottie Reynolds heading to Italy

POSTED: Saturday, July 31, 2010, 5:13 PM

Villanova All-American guard Scottie Reynolds has agreed to a 1-year contract with financial guarantees with Prima Verdi, of the Italian League Second Division.

Reynolds will report to training camp Aug. 15, and the season begins in October.

The contract was negotiated by agents Arn Tellem and Lee Melchioni.

"We've been working on this for a while," Melchoni said. "The offer is something that blew us out of the water."

After going undrafted, Reynolds played for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League in mid-July and had been mulling an offer to sign for training camp.

Are you referring to Lee Melchionni? If so, when did he get his JD? How is he an agent?

Should have left Villanova after the 2009 Final Four. Scottie would have been a first round pick. Could have finished his degree online or in the summer. Hope you make it to the NBA Scottie.

Right bjack, that All-American season really knocked him out of any NBA chance he had.

2009 was the most guard heavy draft in recent history. Chances are slim he would have been picked in the first round.

the chances are nil he would have been a first rounder in '09. If he'd gone pro after his freshman year, he probably would have landed in the 1st round, but flamed out and been labelled a bust. Instead, 4 great years at Nova, one of the all-time greats in the program, goes to Italy, makes some bank, and lives his life. Congrats to Scottie

Not a negative point in this deal. He'll be the highest paid gradaute of his Nova class and have one year in a great country while developing his game. If necessary, he can go back for a 2nd season. If he never gets to the nba, so what. He's a great kid and he'll have a very rewarding career in bball for a very long time, either playing or coaching. This old goat would trade places in a heartbeat. Uh, excuse me, gotta take my med's.

scottie would have come out after 09 if he graded out well at the combine..even a point guard like Sherron Collins didnt get drafted..Scottie has done the most with his ability- he's just limited by height for his position, and somewhat by quickness..but he's a great kid, and this will be a great situation/experience for him...much better than being the 5th guard sitting on an nba bench... TONKA, im surprised you can spell. is this what you do now that you cant go to phils games and throw up on people?
