Report: Sixers in talks about Iguodala trade
The 76ers are involved in talks that could send Andre Iguodala to the Nuggets as part of a four-team blockbuster trade, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The website reports that sources say the deal would send Orlando’s Dwight Howard and Denver forward Al Harrington to the Lakers, Lakers center Andrew Bynum to the Sixers, and Lakers forward Pau Gasol and Denver guard Arron Affalo going to Orlando.
Talks have grown serious “over the course of the week,” according to the report, but a deal is not considered imminent. Yahoo! also said there are moving parts to the deal to be resolved.
Yahoo! said the Magic would have a better chance of moving Gasol in another deal and eliminate the risk of Bynum leaving as a free agent in 2013. In one of the scenarios, either Gasol or Bynum would come to the Sixers.
The lakers arent getting too bad of a deal they have to give up Pau for Harrington so that Denver can send picks to Orlando since LAs picks went to the Suns for Nash. Harrington is on th last year of his deal so they can sign someone in the offseason. As for the sixers I dont think they will have much cap space next year to get a big name guy since they will have to take on the big contracts of either Richardson or Hedu and pay Jrue. rohara
Let's say that the trade happens "as is". What would your starting lineup and bench look like? For me: Holiday, Nick Young, Turner, Hawes, Bynum. Off the bench: Thad, Allen, Vuce, Ivey, Wright. Not seeing it. If they have to take JRich back, my guess is the Sixers will include Thad, to make the money work this year and next, if Holiday and Bynum require max contracts. beegal99- Personally, I want no part of ET starting at SF. He's simply not a good enough player without the ball and his defense is indifferent. Start Thad or throw Harkless into the fire at the 3, and put ET into Lou Williams' old role as the guy who is the focal point of your 2nd unit. He functions best with the ball in his hands, so why not make him your "instant offense" guy? That way, you already know what kind of a scorer you want if the rumors about Jrue's (delusional) contract demands are true. JLB
If they could somehow pull off a deal like this, it would make them the darlings of the summer. Bynum make this team highly respectful, one of the top tier teams in the East. Also heard that he ( Bynum ) was willing to extend with the Cavs. If that's accurate, be a Jersey native i am sure we could convince him to sign long term here. I also think that with Kobe being the first option in LA he would relish the opportunity to be the center piece ( no pun intended ) for this team. what the heck, he already has a couple of rings so it's not like he feels that he wants to contend for a title right away. Great move for the Sixers if they can pull it off. another bonus is it clears the way for the kids to develope and still contend for the playoffs. Get Bynum, and you have a better chance to attract free agents too. keeping my fingers and toes crossed kerryt
That trade would be dope for the Sixers!!! MrBigDizzle
The Magic's CEO, Alex Martins, has been jerking every team in the NBA around where Howard is concerned, so this trade is no more credible than all the other multiple-team deals that have been rumored over the last few months. Sounds like a fantasy league wet dream. chuckw
Why would the Sixers want Bynum, a one year free agent in waiting, when they are obviously using 12-13 as a building year. All the talk has been pointing towards the FA market after next season. Smart teams don't take Bynum unless he signs a new contract BEFORE the trade...which he has said he will not do. Are the Sixers that dumb! gentian
Pros: Bynum or Gasol ..legit big man who can score in the post..better low post defense & rebounding
Cons: Bynum's health....will he do a long term deal...can he handle being the face of the team...will he give the effort every night.
Gasol..will N.Young be the guard to make opponents pay for doubleteam on Pau? AL722
It's just talk. Tyrone Biggums
Mr. 76ers in 2076...I read all three of your comments and have one thing to say...DEAD ON! topchef47
All dbags were trashing the Sixers earlier this offseason. You don't deserve anything good. road515
Good luck depending on Evan Turner to be the 2 guard and carry this team. indaknow
@ Outoftownphillyfan,Emphatically no to Gasol for Iguodola. A much more balanced deal for who? If the trade ain't for Bynum, then I don't think they should do it. nycsixerfan
This is BS!! The Magic want to get younger, what do they want with Gasol? The Lakers are not giving up 2 all-star big men for Howard. Howard will not sign for more than a year or 2, Kobe's getting old and Nash is already old. In 2 years he'd be carrying a team just like the Magic. This is fantasy basketball nonsense. OG
I don't like the words "Not considered imminent". Several Dwight Howard "proposals" have already fallen by the wayside. I would really like the 76ers to stay involved in this, because, frankly, acquiring a big man is the ONLY thing that will give this offseason some real direction. Bynum is a handful, and he has bad knees, but I hope the 76ers can get him in this type of deal. As for Holiday, if he wants big money, the 76ers should be willing to deal him too this summer. 76erfn
