Not Necessarily A Big Help
The 76ers need a big man or two to help fill out the last couple of spots on their roster. Don't expect to be dazzled by the names that might be on their list of possibilities.
Not Necessarily A Big Help
What does it say when the 76ers need a couple of big men to help fill out their roster, and the best names could turn out to be Primoz Brezec and Chris Mihm?
A source familiar with the Sixers' situation suggests a grouping the team could be considering internally includes Brezec, Mihm, Aaron Gray, Ryan Hollins, Jared Reiner, Jake Voshkuhl, Adonal Foyle and Earl Barron.
OK, we'll wait while you catch your breath.
They're all between 6-10 and 7-0. None of them have exactly imposing statistics. They all have some level of NBA experience. And that's about what you'll find in a search for guys to be the 13th or 14th men on a roster.
Since it's unclear whether the Sixers have reached out to any of these guys it's probably not worth going through their various backgrounds at this point. Maybe if one or two of them get invited to training camp.
If your looking for a 13th or 14th man, these guys fit the mold. Anyone reach out to Uwe Blab's agent? I'm sure he has few waves left in his towel. ballzy101
Comment removed.- I'm so excited... dpcoz
they could grab a few guys from the playgrounds around the city at this point and they would come cheap. what is going on with this team? allfillyphan
.....and I just can't hide it GreenReaper
I would consider adding Chris Mihm (Lakers) Although he's not the most intimadating big man: he runs the floor well and posts up. Since living in L.A.: I've watched a number of games he's played when he's healthy. I think, he's a more effective big than Dalembert. I'm sure there will be some disagrement. =~) noho_wrestler
Robbie Kurz!! DreamShake
Mark McNamara doesn't look so bad anymore. smfree31
i like them to sgn Ryan Hollins a young athletic guy who can block shots and can finish strong to the basket as he shows between the series of dallas and sp[urs in the fist round of playoffs. Wolverine42
what about Marshall? are there any plans on resigning him? seems to me like he would be a good fit in this offense. bboybeballin
...I'm about to lose control and I think I like it. bboybeballin
Is Shawn Bradley still available? He's white AND tall! SpottyBalls
Mihm is rarely healthy. I agree with Wolverine. Hollins is probably the best fit among that bunch. derrickwh- wilt might be dead, but he's still not as big a stiff as any of them...

When they signed Brand it gave the impression they would try to contend. Now they are talking of adding Aaron Grey. Horrible. Nice plan Ed. 76er
........and I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I want you. This organization NEEDS the Pointer Sisters in the low post!! Fast Eddie Stefanski.....MAKE IT HAPPEN!! GreenReaper- Why not go to Europe and find some talent, there has to be more than that available over there. Be sides what do you have to lose as a middle of the road NBA team that has allowed "all" of the talent to slip by. BCRock
- I forgot to add at least they all know how to shoot and pass if nothing else, who knows maybe they would fit in with the heralded Princeton offense. BCRock
Bad contracts and lack of quality depth are the Sixers problems for the next several seasons. This team will have problems selling tickets in this economic environment with this set of players. Iguodala and Brand need to have big seasons for this team to be a .500 team without Andre Miller. Maybe they can have a lucky fan contest each game who could serve as the "14th" player each game? That could save the team some money. RunningTheBases
What about Henry Finkel? Dennis Awtrey? Darrall Imhoff? Dale Schlueter? Dave Hoppen? All experienced big men, presumably still alive. Would fill all the pre-requisites for this year's Sixers! dasher
The Sixers have become a laughing stock of an organization once again as a result of mismanagement of the salary cap. Congrats on a job well done Billy King and Ed Stefanski. Here's to another season of mediocrity. Good enough to make the playoffs but not good enough to advance. BORING! mdriban
It's good that they're searching for the 13th and 14th man when they still haven't found the 10th, 11th, or 12th man, starting SG or starting PG. Keep up the great work Ed!! Dean1
Ryan Hollins Should be the best choice for ed to sign. and i hope Ed will sign Jamal tinsley who was waived by the pacers to be a good menor to holiday. Wolverine42
ED STIFFanski, we know you are throwing next season and have no shot at signing Andre Miller.. let Mo Cheeks run the point. Huge
Sixers should consider picking up Drexel alum Robert Battle as a 14th guy. Sacramento had him on their summer league team, but used him sparingly, if at all, after he outplayed their 2008 first-round pick Jason Thompson in the first game. He has been a key player on multiple league titles overseas, including in Spain this past season. NJ X-man
Can they get Matt Geiger out retirement? bsaw
