The NBA has not announced who the contestants will be in the three-point contest, but Sixers guard Jodie Meeks has his hand raised, if they’re looking for people.

“I’ve never really practiced (shooting) off the rack, so I’d have to practice that,” he said. “I’m used to watching them go in. It’s a little different.”

In the shooting contest the better shooters are picking up their next ball off the rack before the previous shot’s result is determined. Meeks is sort of a set-shot type shooter, so he would seem to have the form to do well in the contest. This season Meeks has made 58-of-134 from beyond the arc for 43.3 percent.

“I’ve never done one,” he said. “I’d be glad to be in it if they picked me. For sure, I wouldn’t think twice about it (as opposed to having a couple of days off). I would definitely be honored to come back here to Orlando to be in it.”

It would be nice if meeks could hit more than 1 three pointer a game in what 33 minutes. And Yes, I know he is in the top 20 in 3 point %, but he is horrible. With all those minutes and the wide open shots he gets, he should be hitting at lest 3 to 4 a game. Why does DC love this guy soo much? Maybe a man crush from when he scored 55 points at Kentucky. That guy is a liabilty on defense, not Turner.

He is averaging 2 three pointers a game and he had 54 points in the Kentucky/Tennessee game. Don't let facts get in the way of a comment.

Jan 16th was Meeks' last "bad" shooting night (1-6). The reality is that Meeks doesn't really shoot that much. When he takes more than four 3pt shots in a game, he averages at least 40%; usually closer to 45-50%. You dummies act like he just chucks it up there 10 times a game and he either makes them all or missed them all. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Turner- please. Sixers should've drafted Cousins. Dude's averaging 16 and 11 in his second year. He wouldn't have had the same problems with Collins as Westphal either.

you gots t be joking right... Meeks to the all star festivities and not lou... nottt! if anyone should rep the sixers should be Lou Will or Holiday.. Not old washed up Andre Iguadola hes time gone with the win.. Look at everyone from andres draft year.. look at their improvement throught their tenure in the lead.. some still here and some gone. Andre is sitting on a soft cushion of a contract and refused to bring consistency. How Lou Will comes off the bench and average more points and has more heart to take the last shot... Trade Andre please and back to meeks... its a different style of shooting at all star weekend! besides James Jones will win from miami heat!

Lou should go not Meeks, and Fleagles fan it's pretty funny that you corrected the guy for being a point off. Jody would either make them all or miss them all......

If they are looking for a guy who is as likely to miss every shot as make shots, then by all means take Meeks

What is it with the infatuation with ET?? Philly fans get bromances with the wrong players. The guy hustles but can't shoot or dribble. Maybe another 3 off-seasons with the shooting coach will do it. By that time, Brackens will be getting garbage minutes.

I respect Meeks' desire to participate in the 3 point contest. Meeks should consider the nickname he has been given by some of the fans-- Jodie "once a week" Meeks! The fans gave him that name because he only lights up once a week. Meeks is not a consistent 3 point shooter. Someone should tell him that he is a capable shooter from 12 to 15 feet. If he shoots more 12 to 15 foot shots it will increase his effectiveness!

Ok you folks clearly don't know anything about basketball. 1st of all. Meeks is the best 3 point shooter on the sixers. Historically and statistically. Lou Williams is spectacular off the bench; but just as you saw against the clippers; the good teams have him figured out just enough to stop him in the 4th quarter so let's no jump on the Lou Williams for All-Star just yet & I love his play this season. Being in the 3pt contest does not mean you are an all-star so it means nothing for Meeks to be there over Lou from that perspective other than Meeks being the best 3pt shooter on the team. Meeks has made more than Lou and has a 5pt % lead over Lou. Now about Iguodala, he is the best all round player (statistically & defensively) on the sixers. Lou & Jrue can't guard anyone (i.e. Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Deron Williams) so the points they get are typically offset by the points they give up. Iguodala scores less than Lou but also locks all-star caliber players down. he guards the best guy on the other team when it counts, even if he is a smaller fast guy, even if it means chris paul hitting a tough game winner on him. Iguodala deserves to be the all-star here if anyone. People get caught up in the ESPN bs... watch the GAME. this team is great and only needs a solid big man b/c Hawes can't stay healthy...

Maybe Lin will get the call since the NBA, ESPN and every other national outlet is doing everything it can to ignore the Sixers and notice the Knicks.
