MCW out of hospital (Updated)
The team said MCW hopes to make the trip for away games in Minnesota and Toronoto.
76ers rookie guard Michael Carter-Williams was out of the hospital and at the team's shootaround this morning as they prepared for tonight's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
He did not participate in any drills and it appears doubtful that he will play tonight. MCW was in the hospital the past three days with an infection in his knee. The team said he still has soreness and is listed as day to day.
The team will leave Tuesday for away games in Minnesota and Toronto. The team said MCW hopes to make the trip, but then emphasized that he is day to day. They also said he is taking antibiotics.
Carter-Williams was named the Eastern Conference rookie of the month for November. He has missed the past two games with the knee injury and missed four earlier this season with a sore foot.
Carter-Williams was admitted to the hospital on Thursday when the team departed for a game the next day in Charlotte. He was released Sunday.
"It was getting real red and the swelling was increasing," MCW said of the condition of his knee on Thursday. "It was pretty scary. I don't remember the initial swelling but I did bang it again in the Orlando game."
In that game against the Magic, MCW collected his first triple-double of his career with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. It was after that game he experienced more swelling and soreness.
When asked if he thought he would be able to play tonight, Carter-Williams said: "No, I don't think so. I'm just going day-to-day. I don't know when I'm going to be back. When everyone says it's OK for me to be back. I want to play all the time. When I was in the hospital I wish I was out there playing. I do play through a lot of play but the smart thing to do is to get the OK from everybody first until I play. I'm just going day-to-day. I'm still in some pain."
Asked what may have caused the infection, Carter-Williams said: "No, I have no idea what caused it and no idea how it got there."
He was walking with a noticeable limp at the practice facility.
