Lou Williams finishes second in Sixth Man voting
Sixers guard Lou Williams was named the runner-up for the NBA Sixth Man Award.
Williams led the team in scoring at 14.9 points per game despite not starting a single game.
Williams finished behind Oklahoma City's James Harden. Harden, who led all NBA reserves in scoring (16.8 ppg), came off the bench in 60 of 62 games he appeared in, helping Oklahoma City finish with the NBA’s third-best record (47-19).
Harden received 584 of a possible 595 points, including 115 of a possible 119 first-place votes, from a panel of 119 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada.
Williams finished with 231 points. Dallas' Jason Terry, who won the award in 2008-09, finished third with 81 points.
The Sixers' Thaddeus Young finished ninth with 10 overall points.
so LouWill averaged 16.9 ppg and Harden led the league at 16.8 ppg. Great fact-checking. I'ts 14.9 ppg for LW. phils_tnj1
Excellent news for Lou, runner-up to Harden no disgrace, excellent season for the role he was asked to play. JBP
too bad he'll be gone next year. illadelphson
JBP hit the nail on the head as Lou Will performed at a very high level in a very difficult role...Other than Sam Young and Craig Brackins, the only Sixer not to start a half this season...Led the team in scoring, scoring per minute,PER,5th in 4rth quarter scoring in the league,5th in assist to turnover ratio. Although limited by his size defensively, he had his best defensive season to boot. Can't win the award when a beast like James Harden comes off the bench (although Harden did play 5 more minutes a game than Lou), while playing on such a great team...but I believe Lou Will's gonna get noticed some around the league... sub par shooting % definitely affected as the coach needed HIM to take the tough shots in 2 for 1's and shots to close quarters, as well as low percentage shots off drives to the hoop resulting in follow up baskets for Thad Young...Constantly drew the main attention of opponents. bearsfriend
Harden played with better players which allowed him to flourish. Imagine is Lou was on the floor at the same time as Durant and/or Westbrook. Totally unfair. Lou deserved it. I demand a recount! cancerouscynic
