Lou Williams done for season, Antonio Daniels set to join team.

POSTED: Monday, April 4, 2011, 5:09 PM

Point guard Antonio Daniels, who has played 12 years in the NBA and spent this season with the Texas Legends of the NBA Development League, was getting ready to board a plane yesterday afternoon in Dallas on his way to Boston to join his the Sixers. He will sign a 10-day contract tonight and be at the team's shootaround Tuesday morning. He said he is ready to play right away if the team needs him and coach Doug Collins pretty much assured that.

"He's a very experienced guard," said Collins. "If you're going to bring somebody in, we didn't want to bring in a younger player. We've got enough youth on our team. We wanted to bring someone in who could pick things up quickly and give us some minutes. We'll have our walk-through. We can run some simple things. One thing about the NBA, when you've played 12 years, there's nothing we can run that he hasn't seen."

Daniels got a call Sunday morning from his agent, Tony Dutt, letting him know of the Sixers' interest. One of the first things he did was call Sixers forward Darius Songaila, a former teammate in Washington.

"I talked to Darius Sunday night, talked to him about a lot of different things," said Daniels. "I know of everybody on their roster. I'm a big basketball fan. Any opportunity to watch NBA games, I do it. I'm a big fan of Doug Collins, I have been forever. They are a very young team and a team that plays very hard.

"From what I've heard from Doug, he's looking for me to provide some veteran leadership, provide another good voice in the locker room. I'm looking forward to getting back in the league and playing for the Sixers."

A little more on Willims would have been nice. Will he be back for the playoffs or is he done till next September? What happened? I thought it was a hamstring?
