Ivey Officially Signs

Royal Ivey is officially back with the 76ers. The 6-4 guard, who agreed to terms last week, passed his physical examination this afternoon and signed a contract.

The deal is believed to be for one year, for slightly more than the minimum. In Ivey's case, that should bring him within shouting distance of $1 million.

Ivey had opted out of the second leg of his original contract, but remained interested in returning.

"We're very, very happy to be back in Philadelphia,'' said Keith Glass, Ivey's agent. ''When we opted out, it wasn't a reflection on the Sixers, it was a belief than Royal was worth more than the minimum, and that's been born out.''

Ivey appeared in 71 games last season, averaging 3.0 points in 12.1 minutes.

Ivey is a good addition, all things considered. I can't think of a move they could make right now that would make them automatic contenders.

bring back iverson just get some fans in the stands. but i really dont think they will be brutal but they will be alot worse then last year the east is still bad enough for the sixers to get the 7th or 8th seed in he playoffs.

He's here to distribute the ball and play defense... not score. I am sure they could do better. there is still the offensive hole that andre miller left. but ivey is what he is

PhillyOwnzAll, I agree Ivey is a solid role player, decent defender, can hit some threes. But Sixers fans are just frustrated because we are on such a lower level than the contenders. It gets old just hoping to be around .500 and maybe compete one round in the playoffs. Nothing against Ivey but geez this team is so average.

why would they give this scrub any more than minumum, and why would they bring him back when he turned them down at first? I saw him play a few times filling in for Andre Miller and he was AWFUL.
